Promoting a Hobby with Facebook
During stressful exams times, I try to find activities that keep my mind and body active to reduce all that pent up nervous energy. Since the Edmonton weather sometimes prevents any venture outside to exercise, I had to come up with something else. It was this cold snap snowfall which prompted me to start knitting, as I was hopeless in finding any fun-looking mittens. I found a really neat owl pattern (click here if you would like to try it for yourself) and thought I could handle the challenge. Once finished my project I posted a picture on my Facebook page, and almost instantly received messages about making more for friends.

Facebook can be so handy for this kind of stuff - free, available and easily accessible. I checked out your website and immediately fell in love with your stuff (I definitely requested to join your group)! It's clear evidence how effective Facebook can be with advertising yourself. Congratulations on your success with Knitwit Abner!
ReplyDeleteMeghan, this is a great idea! With all of us living in a cold climate in Canada, everyone must want to buy knitwear from you! The way that you used this course to create a professional Facebook page in order to expand your business was very efficient and smart of you. Facebook is an instaneous way to share anything new with your followers. Great job applying your knowledge from courses to your life outside of school.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! Very interesting way to take Facebook and turn it to promoting yourself. As a friend that has purchased a pair of mittens from you I feel great about helping promote you. Without Facebook I would not have know about your hobby or requested my own pair. You have done very well making a professional page to promote your hobby.
